A statement from the Pfeiler family written following Charles Pfeiler’s death:
On Wednesday July 18th, our father took his own life after battling severe depression throughout his life. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank this community for all of your support. We’d like for everyone to remember him for the way he lived, and not the way he died.
We’d also like to use this message to remind all that mental health should not carry a stigma, and that we should work together to help those struggling with mental illness.
We greatly appreciate all your kind words and support. While we grieve our loss, we know our dad loved us, and that he would want us to encourage anyone struggling with mental illness to seek treatment and not wait.
Charles Mathis Pfeiler, our Dad, was a devoted Christian and family man. We love him and will miss him dearly until we see him again.
